The Women Cell Kozhikode City started functioning from 30.09.1995. Vide GO(Ms) No. 268/95/Home dated 25/08/1995 as a separate room in the Vanitha Police Station from 30.09.1995 . The cell now functioning in a separate building in front of the City Traffic Police Station from November 1998 onwards. The Cell is functioning under the supervision of Asst. Commissioner of Police, Crime Detachment, under the charge of Inspector of Police Women cell. The women cell should assist the District Police Chief in reviewing the progress of investigation of case in which women are victim, the women cell is not entrusted with investigation of any case. Women cell conducts petition enquiry and its disposal which deals with family matters, gives legal aid and counseling and also conducts awareness classes.
