As per the available records Kannur Town Police Station was in existence from 1927. The new building was inaugurated on 28.09.1988 vide GO (Rt) No.4733/88/Home Dt 19.09.1988. On 24.01.1994 the post of SHO Kannur Town Police Station was upgraded into Circle Inspector of Police. On 08.08.2002 the post was again converted as Sub Inspector of Police.
