District women cell started functioning from 01.08.96 1996 as per PHQ circular No. 11/96 (No. 5(a) 30477/96) and D.O No. 303/96 N dated 01.08.16 under direct supervision of Deputy supdt. Of Police, Crime Detachment, Pathanamthitta. It started functioning exclusively to attend the petitions of atrocities on women. The office of Women Cell is now accommodated on ground floor of Pathanamthitta District Police office. This is mainly for giving safety and protection of women and children and finding better solution of family problems by counseling and discussion.
